  • Travelers at Dwight D. Eisenhower Airport in Wichita experienced few delays Sunday amid winter weather affecting flights elsewhere. TSA predicted high holiday travel, so flyers continued checking their flight statuses before departing.  KWCH

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A trash fire broke out at CDR Landfill on 37th Street North Saturday afternoon as crews used 5,000 gallons of water and excavators (cause still unknown) to control the blaze with no injuries reported.  KNSS

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks announced it will host First Day Hikes on Jan. 1 at select state parks to promote outdoor activity for local residents. The event will provide guided hikes — details are available on the agency website.  KWCH
  • Wichita travelers experienced delays and minor power outages last night when heavy storms passed through the area — local officials are monitoring conditions to ensure safety as recovery continues.  KWCH

SPORTS NEWS

  • A tentative deal on a collective bargaining agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association awaits ratification from players. The Wichita Thunder canceled two games over the weekend and will reschedule them as the team prepares to return for its next game Saturday night.  KNSS
