- ➤ The Kansas Dept of Labor and Bureau of Labor Statistics released the latest Labor Report showing a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.8% in August, unchanged from July while labor force participation climbed to 67.0% and nonfarm payroll employment dropped by 4,700 with private and government sectors both losing jobs. The report noted that total nonfarm jobs have fallen by 10,000 since August 2024—mostly in government, despite leisure and hospitality adding over 600 positions. KNSS

- ➤ Lake Afton in Sedgwick County is on the state's warning list for toxic blue-green algae — health officials advise people and pets to avoid the water to prevent sickness. The warning will remain until tests show the algae toxins drop to safe levels. KSN

- ➤ KDOT unveiled its Advanced Air Mobility Roadmap on Thursday that outlines how next-generation aviation, including drones and electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, will improve transportation in Wichita.
