- ➤ Many lawmakers in different states are planning to stop the clock changes when daylight saving time ends on November 2—Congress must give its approval. In Kansas, a Senate bill for permanent standard time passed and will be discussed by the House in January 2026—final votes remain pending. KSN

- ➤ Kansas health officials warn doctors and the public about New World screwworm — a parasite from Central America and Mexico — which can cause dangerous, painful wounds if not treated. They advise travelers to cover open wounds and use insect repellent, though residents are safe at home. KSN
