If you're heading out today, check the sky first. The National Weather Service says Wichita has a good chance of severe weather Monday as two rounds of storms come through, with tornadoes, gusts over 70 mph and half-dollar-size hail possible.

  • Round one: 3 a.m. to noon, gusts of 50 to 60 mph
  • Strongest storms: 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Severe threat runs through at least 10 p.m.

WIBW puts the severe risk between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m., with gusts of 60 to 70 mph and a tornado or two possible. If you see lightning or hear thunder, get inside right away.

“There is uncertainty with how much destabilization occurs in the afternoon given the ongoing morning showers and storms.”
