  • The Better Business Bureau warns Wichita shoppers about counterfeit Labubu toys sold online as holiday demand rises. Experts advise buyers to check for a removable red strip - a sure sign of authenticity.  KWCH

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, the second annual Downtown Wichita Window Wonderland contest is underway as local artist Paris Jane Cunningham paints eight huge windows at Cargill, showing a snowy farm scene linked to a diverse table. The contest features holiday window displays throughout downtown that add festive cheer to the community.  KMUW
  • Trace Adkins will perform his 30th Anniversary Tour at the Kansas Star Casino Grandstand on Friday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. for the opening night of the 2026 Kansas State Fair + tickets go on sale Dec. 19.  Wichita By E.B.

EDUCATION NEWS

  • USD 471 in Dexter ended its fall semester early on Monday as many staff and students got sick. This led to canceling end-of-semester events (spring classes will start Jan. 5).  KWCH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • McConnell Air Force Base is holding preparedness drills today as tornado sirens sound at noon for five minutes. On Wednesday, the base will conduct an active shooter drill plus tests of loudspeaker systems plus the movement of emergency response vehicles, causing delays for visitors because of increased security.  KSN
  • U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is in Wichita today for tours of the Boeing facility, NIAR ATLAS lab, and Textron Aviation Career Learning Center plus a ribbon cutting at the NIAR Hub and a 40th anniversary celebration (joined by Senator Jerry Moran).  KWCH

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Hutchinson CC football team boarded a bus Monday morning from Wichita for a special send-off as they head to the national championship. They will face Iowa Western on Wednesday in Canyon, Texas — kickoff is set at 6 p.m.  KSN
