  • The Carl Brewer Community Center celebrated its completed renovations on Saturday, Dec. 6, unveiling updated spaces (including new event areas) for community gatherings. Residents can now enjoy the improved facility for local programs.  KWCH

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters put out a house fire in Park City Saturday night that resulted in minor injuries as the Sedgwick County Fire Department investigated its cause.  KAKE

  • SK Donuts is expanding in Wichita with a new store planned at 1920 W. 21st St in the former NAS Kitchen space + the opening could happen as early as January.  Wichita By E.B.

  • The Lady Guadalupe parade and inaugural La Rosa 3K race celebrated Mexican tradition and community spirit downtown Saturday morning.  KSN
  • Exploration Place is hosting a Gingerbread Village event featuring detailed gingerbread houses and seasonal decorations. The festive event welcomes families and community members looking to enjoy a fun holiday experience.  KWCH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At a recent District One Advisory Board meeting, city officials approved a revised Douglas design that adds parallel parking and bike lanes to improve safety—reducing parking by 16 spaces along a busy stretch. Bike Walk Wichita supports the change, saying it makes the road safer for cyclists and pedestrians.  KWCH

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Wichita Black Nurses Association has been awarded funding to offer free health testing for Sedgwick County residents affected by the decades-old chemical spill near 29th & Grove as part of a new $3.5 million partnership. The group builds on its 50-year legacy to ensure access to community-centered care.  The Voice
