  • The Somewhere in Winter Festival began on Thanksgiving Day in downtown Wichita and will run until January 4th. Locals can pay $10 to skate or $50 to rent a themed igloo—enjoying food trucks and a holiday market on Sundays.  KSN

  • A Wichita tree farm is offering both real and artificial Christmas trees—this option is giving local shoppers a new way to decide how they celebrate the holidays.  KWCH
  • Shoppers visited Towne East Square on Black Friday to search for deals — many said they still enjoy browsing in person — and the mall will remain open through Dec. 12 for holiday shopping.  KSN

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Great Plains Transportation Museum raised funds for a train restoration project last night as local supporters contributed to refurbish a historic locomotive.  KWCH
  • Starting in December, the Wichita Sedgwick County Historical Museum will feature its annual Moore Family Santa Dolls display—showcasing antique Santa dolls, stuffed toys, and figurines that reflect Santa’s evolving image, with open hours Tuesday through Sunday and free admission on Sundays.  KSN

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Jeff Adams, owner of Windy Knoll Tree Farm, said the weekend after Thanksgiving was busy as families visited his five to six acre lot of 6,000 trees to cut down their own Christmas tree—he aims to sell about 300 trees this season and noted exchange students from Spain and Germany enjoying tree-picking tips.  KWCH
  • Applejack Tree Farm in Augusta opened Friday to launch the Christmas season—visitors can select a tree and take part in winter activities like ice skating, s'mores kits and wreath making. The farm is free and open Monday through Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on weekends from noon to 8 p.m. until Christmas Eve.  KSN

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Nov. 29, 2025, Kapaun won the 4A State Championship over Bishop Miege while Nemaha Central topped Southeast of Saline for the 2A title during the KSHSAA 8-Man Championship Games. The results showed local high school teams played competitively throughout the season.  KWCH
  • Kapaun won the 4A state championship—defeating Bishop Miege in a game that showed the team's strong drive. The win marked a key moment in the season and boosted their record.  KWCH
