COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The 15th annual Say Grace 5K Thanksgiving Race is taking place today as a fundraiser for GraceMed Health Clinic, with about 1,500 runners expected to traverse Wichita's historic neighborhoods — cash prizes will be awarded to top male, female and team finishers; the race begins at 9:30 a.m. outside 1112 N. Topeka Ave.  KSN
  • The Cupp family launched a nonprofit to serve home-cooked holiday meals and raise awareness about distracted driving in honor of Kenzee—a culinary student killed in 2021 by a distracted driver. The program will deliver meals to sheriff’s workers and hospital staff while keeping her spirit alive.  KSN

CRIME NEWS

  • Law enforcement officers across Kansas are displaying red ribbons and placards on patrol cars as part of a DUI Victim Center initiative to honor victims killed by impaired drivers—this campaign also reminds motorists to plan for a sober ride during the busy holiday period.  KSN

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local fiber artists from Sip & Stitch dressed Millie the Millipede in socks and earmuffs on Nov. 10 to keep the sculpture warm for winter; the sculpture — created by Wichita native Tom Otterness and set near the Ulrich Museum of Art — remains a campus favorite among students.  KSN

FINANCE NEWS

  • Wichita State freshman guard Pierre Couisnard and his father P.J. Couisnard have partnered with Meritrust to boost financial literacy in the local community—offering workshops and money management tools for students, families and the broader Shocker network. They plan to help everyone learn how to manage money better.  The Voice

HEALTH NEWS

  • Medicare Open Enrollment ends Dec. 7 and plans will start Jan. 1 while Affordable Care Act coverage in Missouri and Kansas lasts until Jan. 15 for policies beginning Feb. 1. Officials advise residents to sign up early to avoid gaps in coverage as subsidy rules remain unchanged.  The Voice

  • Local organizers preview several upcoming holiday events set to take place in the coming weeks, including fairs + concerts + markets scheduled at various venues.  KWCH
  • Wichita plumbers warned homeowners to disconnect garden hoses, seal crawl spaces and check faucets as colder winds and holiday gatherings may cause pipes to freeze—Chris Brown of Brown’s Plumbing said small drips can lead to costly repairs if not fixed. Homeowners should take these simple precautions to avoid plumbing damage during Thanksgiving.  KSN

  • Sterling’s Zane Farney rushed the Black Bears to secure a 1A title berth on Nov. 26, 2025—his key plays helped the team qualify for the championship.  KWCH
  • On November 26th in Las Vegas, Kansas beat Tennessee 81-76 in the Players Era Championship third-place game—ending Tennessee's unbeaten run. Melvin Council Jr. and Elmarko Jackson scored 17 points each as Kansas will host Connecticut on Tuesday while Tennessee faces Syracuse on Tuesday.  KWCH
