BUSINESS NEWS

  • Wichita’s second Smalls Sliders will open its west side location at 3500 N. Maize Road Tuesday, November 25 at 10 a.m.—it will offer a drive-thru, patio space, and a walk-up window—and the first 100 customers in line will receive a pair of signature Smorange slide shoes with purchase.  Wichita By E.B.
  • Create Campaign celebrated its tenth anniversary yesterday as it promoted entrepreneurship in Wichita by connecting business owners with tools and mentoring. The group has provided essential support to boost local business growth—driving progress in our community.  KWCH

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA estimates that 81.8 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles away from home for Thanksgiving (73.3 million will drive, 6 million will fly, and nearly 2.5 million will use other transport). It projects 1.6 million more travelers than last year and expects a lift on flight restrictions to ease air travel (Nov. 25-Dec. 1).  KSN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Wichita Southeast High School pardoned Pearl, a turkey in its Agriculture Science program, during a ceremony led by principal Connie Redic on Tuesday. It was the school's second turkey pardoning + the event gave students a hands-on chance to learn about animal care outdoors.  KWCH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kansas lawmakers expect to pass a bill banning cell phones in schools—if approved, the rule will limit device use during classes. The measure is scheduled for a final vote soon.  KWCH

HEALTH NEWS

  • PP&J Construction apologized — going door-to-door in Riverside on Monday — for leaving concrete dust after repairing North Woodland Avenue, and neighbors remain worried about lingering health risks.  FOX Kansas
  • The Kansas Committee on Health Care Stabilization finished its review on November 18 of a law that helps hospitals and physicians pay for malpractice insurance, though advanced practice registered nurses pay out of pocket. The legislature will review a change in January 2026 — a move that could extend insurance funding to those nurses — to help protect patients.  KSN

  • Officials announced that the Wichita Open will become a PGA Tour Americas event in 2026 (dropped from the Korn Ferry Tour). The change comes as part of a reorganization of professional golf events.  KWCH
