COMMUNITY NEWS

  • First Mile Kitchen at 2141 N. Bradley Fair Parkway launched Meatloaf Madness, a free meatloaf donation event that runs through the holidays. Customers who purchase or pre-order meatloaf will trigger a donation to one of the partner groups—HealthCore Clinic, Kansas Food Bank, or Wichita Family Crisis Center—with a goal of donating 2,000 meatloaves compared to 1,000 last year.  Wichita By E.B.
  • Holiday Sip and Shop is a first-time after-hours shopping event at Towne East Square on November 23 from 7—10 p.m. Ticket holders will enjoy special deals from over 25 retailers, drinks, DJ music, styling sessions and snacks, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Wichita Children’s Home.  Wichita By E.B.
  • Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at Wichita State University has delivered three complete Thanksgiving meal baskets containing turkey, dinner rolls, stuffing and vegetables to families in need—this marks the third year of the tradition that will continue for future celebrations.  KWCH
  • On Saturday, Wichita Public Libraries celebrated the completion of its branch masterplan at Rockwell Branch Library and marked a key milestone in the library system’s long-term plan.  KSN
  • For five years, Shower-Up Wichita has given free showers to people experiencing homelessness, and now it launches a mobile laundry unit to offer more help.  KSN
  • Wichita’s largest tree, over 80 feet tall, lit up downtown Sunday as part of the Lights of Life event hosted by Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Families dedicated lights to honor loved ones and raise funds to support hospice care.  KSN
  • ShowerUp Wichita will expand its services by launching a free mobile laundry unit on Sunday morning at 445 N. Market near the downtown YMCA—after offering shower services for years to those in need. The unit has four washers and dryers powered by a generator—aimed at restoring dignity and hope.  KSN

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A Greek restaurant called It’s Greek To Me is coming soon to the Towne East Square food court — it will serve traditional and modern Greek dishes. The restaurant is expected to open by the end of the year — local diners will soon have a new place to eat.  Wichita By E.B.

CRIME NEWS

  • Trooper Adam Ellis was shot during a domestic disturbance call in Osage County on Saturday morning and will need surgery as he begins a long recovery—donations are being collected to help with unexpected costs while 22-year-old suspect Stephen M. McMillan was shot dead and two deputies underwent surgery.  KWCH

CULTURE NEWS

  • The newest Keepers on Parade statue, named Keeper of the Sound, was unveiled Sunday at Century II Concert Hall to honor Wichita’s next generation symphony musicians — it is inspired by the Keeper of the Plains statue and the Wichita Symphony — before the symphony began its 'What Music Is' concert.  KWCH

  • Today, Sedgwick County Fire District 1 will conduct a controlled burn at Sedgwick County Park from 8 to 11 a.m. to clear overgrowth on the sledding hill—barriers and firefighters will maintain safety while residents with allergies or asthma are advised to remain indoors.  KSN
