- ➤ Sedgwick County Zoo will open a holiday retail pop-up—Zoo Market Square—at NewMarket Square near 21st and Maize Road on Black Friday and will run through Dec. 31, offering zoo memberships, wildlife-inspired gifts, and eco-friendly products to support animal care, education and conservation. The store will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. except on Christmas. KSN
- ➤ On Wednesday, Cargill donated turkeys, 30,000 meal packages and $150,000 in cash to the Kansas Food Bank to support holiday programs in 85 counties. The company will match up to $100,000 for its Food for Kids weekend backpack program—marking its 19th consecutive year of support—as food insecurity grows, according to Brian Walker. KNSS
- ➤ KAKE joined forces with DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers—and Dillon’s to launch the Food For Good donation drive that will support Kansas families facing food insecurity as winter approaches. KAKE

- ➤ On Thursday morning, firefighters were called to a historic home at Main and Thomas in Mt. Hope where fire burned the basement, main floor, second floor and attic—no one was hurt but the building is now unlivable. KSN
- ➤ A 6-inch cast-iron pipe broke in downtown Wichita today—causing water to cover the streets. KSN
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Hemp industry advocates in Wichita are challenging new federal regulations that set a 0.4 milligram per container THC limit, a rule they say bans hemp products by overriding the 2018 Farm Bill. The regulation will not take effect for over a year, and industry leaders plan to propose new rules including age restrictions and third-party testing — they hope to safeguard their businesses. KWCH
- ➤ Chicken Salad Chick is moving in equipment and furniture at its new northwest Wichita location at 10240 W. 29th St. at the northeast corner of 29th and Maize—south of Sam’s Club—and will open mid-December as its first Wichita outlet offering chicken salad, salads, and sandwiches. - ➤ On Thursday, 25 graduates completed the Sedgwick County Drug Court Program and celebrated their sobriety and commitment to a crime-free life during a local ceremony. The program, run by the Sedgwick County Department of Corrections, links participants with community service opportunities and employee support—efforts aimed at reducing recidivism. KSN

- ➤ Lexie Helgerson's documentary 'Age Group Winner' will play this weekend at Tallgrass Film Center as she attends both screenings to explore her relationship with her father—Jay Helgerson, a local record-holder who once ran a marathon every week under three hours. - ➤ Wichita is joining with an Oklahoma firm to tackle its affordable housing shortage by shipping fully furnished modular homes. Steve Feilmeier from the Wichita Affordable Housing Fund said the cost-effective plan comes as Reverend Dr. Kevass Harding noted that rising construction costs are keeping local prices high—efforts aimed at helping the 67204 area.
