- ➤ On Tuesday, New Life Covenant Church in Wichita distributed bags of non-perishable food to SNAP recipients whose benefits were not renewed for November. - ➤ A list of food pantries in Sedgwick and Butler counties has been compiled for families facing food insecurity across Kansas—nearly 90,000 households may need help as approximately 186,000 to 188,000 residents receive SNAP benefits. KWCH
- ➤ Local restaurants, breweries and a distillery raised $60,000 for Wichita Habitat for Humanity through Service for Change — a group formed in April 2024 by 17 businesses to fund affordable housing for low-income families in Sedgwick County. - ➤ The Corbin Education Center was added to the National Register of Historic Places after its renovation and re-opening earlier this year and was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. - ➤ A Wichita woman nearly hit a student Monday morning outside Wichita Heights High School and is urging officials to install a crosswalk and lower speed limits to protect students. - ➤ Unofficial election night results show that Amy Jensen and Amy Warren will win board seats in Districts 5 and 6 in January after defeating incumbents Kathy Bond and Hazel Stabler. - ➤ Nearly 200 Sedgwick County high school students attended the Youth Engagement in Public Service Conference at the Rhatigan Student Center Tuesday to learn about EMS, 911 and firefighting careers.
