- ➤ Southwest Airlines will begin a new nonstop seasonal flight from Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport — Orlando International Airport starting June 6, operating on Saturdays through August 1. The flight departs Wichita at 12:55 p.m., arrives in Orlando at 4:55 p.m., leaves Orlando at 4:30 p.m., and reaches Wichita at 6:30 p.m. KWCH
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Botanica is hosting Bootanica during three weekends starting today—October 10-11—with events on Friday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 10 p.m.; the festival returns on October 17-18 and October 24-25. KSN
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ WSU students earned over $39 million in paid internships during the 2025 academic year—an increase of more than 11% from last year. WSU President Rick Muma said the program changes lives by giving students valuable work skills for future careers. KSN
- ➤ The Wichita school board began holding meetings in a newly renovated boardroom at the district headquarters at Lincoln and Edgemoor, converted from the former library of Southeast High School. The $571,000 project includes design work, asbestos removal, construction, and technology upgrades (improving audio-visual equipment, security, and accessibility) for board meetings and staff training. - ➤ On Wednesday, October 9, candidates for Wichita City Council District 6 held a forum at Evergreen Library hosted by the Wichita Journalism Collaborative to discuss homelessness and affordable housing.
