- ➤ The Junior League of Wichita will host its 20th annual Holiday Galleria from October 2-5 at Century II Expo Hall in downtown Wichita to raise funds for community projects. The event will feature over 120 merchants, live music, and preview parties—making it a major local celebration. Wichita By E.B.
- ➤ In Axtell, Bob Lozier took over the only grocery store when its owner sold in 2022—local investors and community volunteers raised nearly $500,000 to rebuild the century-old store and keep residents close to fresh food. The store now hosts community events and serves as a vital food link for a town that would otherwise face long trips for groceries. KMUW
- ➤ Tom Shine, director of News and Public Affairs at KMUW, is set to retire in December after 45 years in news—he started as a night police reporter at the Wichita Eagle and built a career hosting The Range and mentoring colleague Suzanne Perez. - ➤ Cofellow Coffee Parlor opened a new shop inside Vima Church at 2120 N. Woodlawn in east Wichita, joining its locations in Goddard and at the Commerce Club. The business offers a space for coffee, meetings and work for local residents. Wichita By E.B.

- ➤ The Jonas Brothers will bring their 20th anniversary tour, JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown Tour, to Wichita's Intrust Bank Arena in December—tickets go on sale Thursday for the show on Dec 3. KSN
- ➤ Shane Carter becomes the new leader at TKAAM and he prepares the museum to move to a 22,000-sq-ft downtown space. The museum will feature an immersive Dockum Sit-In exhibit — a key part of Wichita history — and Carter aims to improve accessibility and community programs. The Voice
- ➤ Members of the St. Paul AME Church recalled recording the 1968 gospel album 'Lord I’ll Be Willing' in their 150-year-old church—longtime singers like 93-year-old Marvin Stone Jr. and 80-year-old Donna Miller remember the one-take process and how the album still stirs hearts in the community. - ➤ Kansas Fire Marshal has added a 1½-year-old Belgian Malinois named Gator who is certified in human remains detection—working with Special Agent Melanie Miller to support search and rescue efforts. They are preparing for FEMA certification to join Kansas Task Force 1 and provide mutual aid response. KWCH
- ➤ KDOT will close U.S. 400 to through traffic in Butler County on Saturday, Oct. 4th at 8 p.m. to set the pedestrian bridge on the Redbud Trail and detour vehicles (eastbound via Andover Road north to 21st Street/SW 70th then east to Santa Fe Lake Road and back, with westbound using the reverse route) while the road reopens before noon on Sunday, Oct. 5th. - ➤ Wichita City Hall opened a new RTIC—real-time information center—for police to get live data from drones, body cams and license plate readers. Mayor Lily Wu said the facility was built with federal, local and state funds including $1.6 million from federal support. FOX Kansas
- ➤ The Kansas Department of Transportation will host a consultation meeting on October 8 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at WSU’s Hughes Metropolitan Complex (29th St N. and Oliver) to get public input on highways, public transit, and pedestrian routes while Sedgwick County residents hear updates on the Northwest Expressway Project.
