  • Protesters gathered outside Wichita’s ABC affiliate KAKE on Sunday to protest the removal of Jimmy Kimmel’s show after ABC suspended him amid FCC pressure, noting that KAKE is owned by a different company. They contended the move undermined free speech & the First Amendment and called for accountability over corporate influence.  KWCH
  • A four-person team from Bike Walk Wichita raised over $4,000 for refugee programs by biking 24 hours from the Colorado state line to Missouri—executive director Holly Terrill said the ride combined a fun challenge with supporting those in need.  KSN

  • Wichita’s first Sri Lankan restaurant Serendibz is updating the old Eastern Gate space at 3700 N. Woodlawn Blvd and will open later this year—diners can sample a limited menu at the Wichita Asian Festival on September 27.  Wichita By E.B.

SPORTS NEWS

  • Chiefs fans stayed upbeat after a Sunday night win over the Giants even though the team started 0-2, and fans in Old Town said the defense showed improvement. Many expressed hope the offense and defense will take the league by storm—demonstrating strong local support.  KSN
  • Kendall Forbes, a Bishop Carroll graduate from Pitt State, led the football team on the Gorilla Walk before the game against Fort Hays State at Family Day—while she was still recovering from a serious accident in July.  KWCH
