- ➤ A Wichita man was sentenced to 17 months in prison for his role in the 2023 City Nightz nightclub shooting in Wichita’s Old Town — he pleaded no contest to criminal possession of a weapon and was credited with time served. KWCH
- ➤ Jaime Medina, Jr., 23, was charged with first-degree murder and battery for a deadly shooting outside a liquor store on 29th Street North and Broadway that killed 19-year-old Mario Gonzalez and injured three others on Sept. 1; his next court appearance is set for Sept. 15. KSN
- ➤ Authorities confirmed that human remains were found in a north Wichita neighborhood on Monday—police are investigating the scene. KAKE

- ➤ Nate Hofer, a Kansas musician, uses the echo inside an abandoned missile silo near Wilson to record new tunes that blend his Cold War fears with a calm musical sound. - ➤ USD 259 sold Clark and Payne Elementary schools for $1,015,000 after board approval. Clark Elementary at 650 S. Apache Drive was sold to Wichita Classical School for grades seven through 12 and will be renovated by January—while Payne Elementary at 1601 S. Edwards, sold to Pyxis, Inc., will be remodeled and moved into within six months—adding new uses to the empty buildings. KSN

- ➤ Today, the Sedgwick County Commission will approve a proclamation declaring Suicide Awareness Week and Month in the county to stress the need for mental health support as 92 local suicides occurred last year — part of 49,000 nationwide.
