- ➤ Jerad, a customer at Tacos TJ 664, gave a family $100 when the restaurant’s cash-only system caused a payment problem and rewarded them with a meal, and the restaurant thanked him with a free taco voucher for the rest of the year—his kind act is already inspiring others. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Wichita police investigated a shooting on Sept. 1 at a store at 29th and North Broadway—one person died and three others were hurt after a disturbance at a liquor store led to gunfire near 8th and Main. KSN
- ➤ On Sunday afternoon, Wichita police arrested a 16-year-old on a felony murder charge after a shooting in the 2100 block of North Arkansas left Sebastian Williams dead and another man in critical condition+ investigators are now searching for a second suspect. KWCH
- ➤ Wichita Police arrested one suspect in connection with a Labor Day shooting—investigators are gathering facts to determine next steps. KWCH
- ➤ A historic pagoda in Riverside Park was vandalized this week causing thousands of dollars in damage — delaying $150,000 in renovations as officials plan to secure extra funds and work with the city to replace its roof in coming weeks. KSN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At Tuesday's meeting, Wichita City Council approved a $200 thousand KDHE grant to boost energy efficiency and $19.11 million for water and sewer main upgrades set for next year. The council also planned to repair four parks damaged by summer floods—irrigation savings will cover the $150 thousand needed and work is expected to start in the coming weeks if weather permits.
