  • Second Light—Wichita’s new 24/7 homeless shelter—gives residents a safe place to stay while construction limits access to full services. Many have reported long waits for meals, showers, and case management, with officials saying full wraparound services will begin in January.  The Voice

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A man was seriously hurt in a crash on I-235 at Kellogg—his Toyota GR86 hit a barrier wall and caught fire before EMS transported him to Via Christi-St. Francis for treatment.  KSN

CRIME NEWS

  • Wichita Police responded to a 1:40 a.m. shooting call in Old Town, where they found 23-year-old D’Andre Rubio-Glover with a fatal gunshot wound—police reported a disturbance occurred before the incident and are investigating the case.  KWCH
  • Wichita Police reported that a 24-year-old man was critically injured in a shooting at around 1:40 a.m. on Monday — the victim was found on the 100 block of N. Rock Island in Old Town — and taken to a local hospital.  KNSS
  • Sedgwick County dispatchers reported that two people are critically wounded in a shooting near 21st — Arkansas in north Wichita, with one person in very critical condition as investigators respond to the scene.  KWCH
  • Wichita Police responded at 9:35 p.m. to a three-vehicle crash at Central and Webb that killed Lashea Bell, 42, at the scene and her daughter Aniah Bell, 25, at a local hospital, and later arrested 80-year-old Augusta woman Clowie McLaughlin—accused of second-degree murder—with speed and alcohol believed to be contributing factors.  KNSS
  • Sedgwick County Dispatch confirmed a shooting at 29th Street — Broadway Avenue that left one person dead and two others in critical condition.  KWCH
