COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Over the weekend, aviation fans gathered at Jabara Airport for the 62nd Air Capital Fly-in where kids enjoyed helicopter rides, local vendors offered unique displays, and aircraft were judged. Chairman Bob Blanton said his love of flying stems from a family tradition — the event celebrated Wichita’s rich aviation heritage.  KWCH

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A multi-vehicle accident at the intersection of E. Central and N. Webb Road in Wichita on Saturday night resulted in one death and two non-life-threatening injuries, according to Sedgwick County Dispatch—more details are pending.  KWCH

CRIME NEWS

  • A person was shot and remains in critical condition after the incident occurred Saturday afternoon at the 2600 block of West Pawnee near South Meridian Avenue in south Wichita + first responders arrived at 2:40 p.m. to secure the scene.  KWCH
  • Last Saturday, Conner and Madalyn Hansen said a driver crashed through a neighbor’s yard—hitting their fence and totaling their family cars, while police found no evidence of impairment and continue investigating the incident.  FOX Kansas

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Wichita resource fair on Saturday helped Kansans learn that voting rights are automatically restored after completing felony sentences—even though many did not know they could vote again. Hosted by the Wichita Racial Profiling Advisory Board at the WSU Metroplex, the event also offered on-site voter registration, driver’s license support, and re-entry information from Sedgwick County Jail.  KSN

HEALTH NEWS

  • A south Wichita church hosted an event Saturday at 1515 E. Harry for people affected by overdose, addiction and homelessness, offering free meals, live music and mobile showers—local agencies provided Narcan and detox information. Vice President Linda Orben said the event was planned after she saw the Midwest missing from International Overdose Awareness Day and remembered 90 overdose deaths in Sedgwick County so far.  KSN
