- ➤ Thrift for a Cause, a new Wichita thrift store, donates part of each sale to a different local nonprofit or community initiative—each purchase supports a unique cause. The shop will rotate its beneficiary organization regularly to address various local needs. KSN
- ➤ Wichita native Zach Nguyen used his 40th birthday to launch a fundraiser for at-risk youth—drawing on his experiences with poverty and a transformative time in prison to guide his mission. FOX Kansas
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mary Dean—a local civil rights advocate—is suing city officials after her reparations proposal was blocked and she was removed from a council meeting Aug. 7. She had filed a complaint earlier, and the lawsuit is pending as the city declines to comment on litigation. KSN

- ➤ A Mental Health Town Hall took place Thursday evening in Wichita at the third-floor conference room of the Ronald Reagan Building—hosted by the Association of Community Mental Health Centers of Kansas and Sedgwick County’s COMCARE.
