COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Wichita city council approved a design contract for a new Planeview Community Center that will replace the old Colvin Neighborhood Resource Center next to Colvin Elementary—part of a $9.9 million project featuring a computer lab, classrooms, gym, food pantry, and meeting space. The contract was awarded to SFS Architecture for $820,565—using funds from nearly $10 million in bonds approved in January. KSN
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. a vehicle struck a pedestrian on South Hydraulic Street and East 103rd Street South between Haysville and Mulvane, leaving one person dead and another injured—Hydraulic is closed to traffic in that area as first responders continue their work. KSN

- ➤ Wichita State deployed Wuber golf carts on Aug. 18—19 to help new students navigate campus and reach their classes. Administrators organized the rides to welcome students and connect them with campus leaders. The Sunflower
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sen. Roger Marshall met with Wichita law enforcement and mental health providers Tuesday to discuss officer stress and ways to better support their work. The roundtable focused on boosting training and peer-support teams — steps that may help officers cope with repeated trauma on the job. KSN
- ➤ On August 19th, the Wichita city council passed permanent water restrictions to manage supply concerns—residents must adhere to the new usage rules. KWCH
- ➤ Christie Cauble Davis, a lifelong Kansan, filed her candidacy on Aug. 5 to challenge incumbent Roger Marshall for U.S. Senate and said she will hold a statewide listening tour to discuss rural healthcare, public schools, immigration, economic policies, and accountability in Washington—aiming to give Kansans a clear voice in government.
