- ➤ A new agency called Dorothy’s Lane opened Friday in Wichita as the state’s first African American-led foster home placement center offering wraparound services such as community support, mental health care, equine therapy — along with a private school and court-ordered programs. The nonprofit, which has served families since 2019 with food, clothing, and hygiene pantries, aims to reintegrate children back into their families. KSN
- ➤ Sedgwick County Zoo hatched six cape twig snake hatchlings for the first time—two adult snakes can be seen in the Amphibian & Reptile building while the new snakes will stay hidden as they grow. KWCH

- ➤ Teacher Tracey Wallace remembered 14-year-old Jackson Nzabonimpa—set to start high school—who was killed when a power pole and utility box fell on him after a high-speed crash on the week school began, while police took 19-year-old Gauge Brasher back into custody. KWCH
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ USDA data shows a record average corn yield of 188 bushels per acre, and farmers in Belle Plaine are preparing for a harvest that starts early September. Farmer Doug Hisken said heavy rains boosted his crop growth and he now expects around 150 bushels per acre — a big jump from his usual 100 — making this season promising. KWCH
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Health officials in Sedgwick County will declare the measles outbreak over today as the 42 day monitoring period ends with no new cases after a month of calm and 90 confirmed infections statewide — this meets the state guidelines. The decision follows a recent reappearance of measles in Kansas this year. FOX Kansas

- ➤ Wichita State University's Shocker Racing team showed its small Formula 1 style cars at Shock Fest on Saturday to build new membership and share its work. Team captain Gavin Barnes said the club, which has raced with teams from other countries, will compete next at an autocross event in Arlington, Texas this fall. KSN
