Wichita police named Robert Schoenberger as a person of interest in Monday night’s shooting that killed a woman near Wesley Medical Center at Central and Hillside—he was last seen in a blue T-shirt and jeans after he removed his parole monitor and police say he is armed and dangerous.
At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, members rejected plans for affordable apartments at WaterWalk — trustee Jim Korroch apologized for past errors and Mayor Wu said the city must fix broken promises.
The council also considered a lease change to boost future development interest at the site.
During Tuesday morning’s meeting, the Wichita Council discussed a plan from Indianapolis-based Union Development Holdings for a 186-unit multifamily affordable housing development at WaterWalk.
The council also reviewed a $300,000 bond for trail repairs at Pawnee Prairie Park—Union has requested up to $50 million in bonds to help finance the project.
