ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A motorcycle rider died in a crash in east Wichita—police said investigators are looking into the cause.  KSN
  • Three people were critically injured Saturday night when a Ford Mustang collided with a GMC Acadia at the intersection of St. Louis and Young in west Wichita—police say alcohol may have been involved.  KSN

CRIME NEWS

  • Wichita police are investigating a woman's death after her body was found Saturday evening in the 1800 block of South Palisade (officers arrived just before 7 p.m.) and the coroner will later determine the cause and manner of death.  KWCH

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local readers can vote for Wichita’s top 100 restaurants in the ICT 100 contest, which uses votes from food bloggers, readers and organizers weighted at 20 percent, 20 percent and 60 percent respectively. Only restaurants with brick and mortar locations open by today qualify—voting ends Saturday, August 23.  Wichita By E.B.

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A 3.3 magnitude earthquake shook parts of central Kansas at 5:35 p.m. on Aug. 3—recorded 6 km southeast of Assaria at a depth of 5 km—after two earlier quakes measuring 3.4 and 2.7 occurred this weekend.  KWCH

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, the Wichita State alumni AfterShocks beat Eberlein Drive 82 to 67 at Koch Arena to claim the Basketball Tournament title and earn a $1 million prize. The victory drew 9,029 fans — the second-largest attendance in TBT history and the biggest ever for a championship game.  KWCH
