ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Sunday night, a crash at the intersection of Clark and Broadway in south Wichita left three people injured — two in critical condition — around 10 p.m.  KWCH

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Teriyaki Madness—a fast growing chain from Denver—is set to open its second Wichita restaurant in August at Shops at Avante on N. Ridge Road. The restaurant will offer made-to-order Asian fusion meals and its opening date may change.  Wichita By E.B.

CRIME NEWS

  • Police responded early Saturday at around 2 a.m. to a shooting at the 400 block of North Mathewson in central Wichita—officers found a 25-year-old man with two gunshot wounds to his upper torso, who was alert and taken to a local hospital, and no arrests have been made.  KNSS
  • WPD is investigating a shooting near Fairmount Park in east Wichita where officers heard gunshots at 3:27 a.m. near 17th St. and Hillside and found a woman with a gunshot wound to her right foot at the 1700 block of N. Harvard+ no arrests have been made.  KWCH

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Cheney Lake reached normal levels after heavy rain raised the water more than seven feet in less than 20 days; at 2:05 p.m. Sunday the Army Corps of Engineers reported the lake was 1421.6 feet and 100% full—levels not seen since July 13.  KWCH
  • Cheney Reservoir returned to full capacity—reaching 1,421.6 feet on Sunday afternoon after rainfall raised its level more than seven feet in under 20 days following a dry spell that left it over eight feet below normal. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reported the reservoir is now back at its benchmark for the first time in more than two years.  KSN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kansas Task Force One returned home on Sunday after a two-week deployment in Texas where teams searched flood-hit areas in the Kerrville region. The group used human remains detection K9s and heavy equipment — but no remains were found after intense efforts.  KWCH

HEALTH NEWS

  • Officials issued a boil water advisory for Whitewater last night and residents are told to boil water before drinking— the advisory will stay in effect until officials lift it.  KWCH
