GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Early voting for the 2025 primary election began yesterday—voters can now cast ballots ahead of election day. KWCH
- ➤ Advance in-person voting began at the Sedgwick County Election Office while five satellite locations will open on Thursday, July 31 to let Wichita voters choose candidates for the city council seat and USD 259 board positions and to vote on a proposed 1% sales tax in Maize — Election Day is Tuesday, Aug. 5. - ➤ A construction project began on Kellogg near downtown Wichita this morning, and drivers should expect slowdowns through summer and into fall. Traffic will be cut to two lanes in both directions between Broadway and the I-135 interchange with select ramps closed—if the weather cooperates—until November. KWCH
- ➤ Candidates for City Council District 1 discussed equity in housing, safety, and fresh food access at a forum on July 15 at Wichita State University's Marcus Welcome Center — attended by over 200 residents. They debated issues like affordable housing, public safety, and transit ahead of a primary on Aug. 5 — with the top two candidates moving on to the general election on Nov. 4. The Voice

- ➤ The 2025 NBC World Series will kick off in Wichita Thursday as 16 teams compete mainly at Eck Stadium on Wichita State’s campus, with the championship scheduled at Equity Bank Park.
