A local homeowners association is investigating a pond filled with dead fish and residents are concerned about the issue.

The group will assess the situation this week to decide on cleanup measures.

After a fish kill on Friday, thousands of dead fish remained in a pond in the Chadsworth neighborhood on Sunday — residents reported a strong odor in nearby homes, and the homeowners association said a nearby pump station may have contributed as tests are underway.

Two Wichita natives, Tyner Horn (Goddard-Eisenhower) and Paul Schoenfeld (Bishop Carroll) were selected in the 2026 MLB Draft with Horn picked by the Cincinnati Reds and Schoenfeld chosen by the Arizona Diamondbacks; both will start their professional baseball careers.
