- ➤ A 33-year-old man named Shawn Lewis was arrested in Wichita & charged with first-degree murder and child abuse in connection with the death of his two-year-old stepson John Delano, whose injuries did not match his account, and his preliminary hearing will be held on July 21 at 1:30 p.m. while he remains in Sedgwick County jail on a $2 million bond. - ➤ Two people were injured in a stabbing at 13th and Broadway on July 9—police are investigating the incident. KWCH
- ➤ Sedgwick County inmate James Chavez, 20, pleaded guilty to aggravated battery—he threw boiling water on a detention deputy in April, causing second- and third-degree burns and faces sentencing on Aug 22. KSN
- ➤ On July 9th, the Kansas Supreme Court overturned a man's drug conviction—finding his traffic stop was unlawful. KWCH
- ➤ Eduardo Diaz-Yobal, 33, has been charged with first-degree murder for the deadly assault that left Cesar Gonzalez, 43, unresponsive in a north Wichita parking lot after officers were called around 1 a.m. Friday on the 3000 block of N. Fairview Ave—his bond is set at $1 million and his next court appearance is scheduled for July 29. KSN
