The Ellsworth County sheriff’s office said that a strong current swept a boat away at Kimble Point on Kanopolis Lake when three swimmers without life jackets were caught in the incident, and boaters rescued Reagen Dalke—she was airlifted to Wichita in serious condition—as her father and best friend remain missing while search efforts shift to recovery using drones.

A 2-year-old boy died from severe injuries he suffered earlier this week and his stepfather was booked into Sedgwick County Jail—he now faces a first-degree murder charge.
