ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A crash at K-42 and Tyler on Thursday afternoon left a gray car’s driver seriously hurt after it ran a red light and hit a van carrying seven kids and three adults, rolling the van and causing only minor injuries to the passengers. KWCH
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Kansas wheat farmers are steadily harvesting amid challenges from disease, drought, and wet fields while yields and test weights vary across counties. Reports from Rooks, Kingman, and Hamilton counties show average protein levels and virus issues that may affect some crops. KSN
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wichita State announced that the Liberal Arts and Sciences advising center will move to room 207 on the second floor of Lindquist Hall and will be closed from July 7 to July 11 for the relocation, replacing its old space at Grace Wilkie Hall which is slated for demolition. The Sunflower
- ➤ Jeffery Jarman, director of the Elliott School of Communication, is leaving Wichita State after 29 years to work full-time as a litigation consultant—he will officially retire on Aug. 20 while Lisa Parcell takes over the role next week. The Sunflower
- ➤ Wichita Public Schools will begin online enrollment for grades 1-12 on Monday, July 7 while kindergarten families must enroll in person on Monday and Tuesday, July 28-29; all students will start classes on Aug. 14 with new middle and high school students having a half-day orientation on Aug. 13. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kansas’s revised Move Over law took effect on July 1 and now requires drivers to move to a lane away from any vehicle with hazard lights, flares, or cones—violators face a $75 fine. Kate Craft from the Kansas Department of Transportation said the law adds extra protection for emergency workers and stranded motorists. KSN
- ➤ Wichita residents can now legally shoot aerial fireworks from 10:00 a.m.-midnight on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday as the new law also allows sales within city limits; residents are advised to call 316-290-1011 for non-emergency complaints. KNSS
- ➤ The United States Honor Flag made a brief stop at Love’s Travel Center on East 21st Street North in Wichita Thursday morning as it headed to Phillipsburg to honor fallen deputy Brandon Gaede—he died in the line of duty. It will stay by his side during visitation and Saturday's funeral before moving on to California to honor a fallen highway patrol officer. KSN

- ➤ Kansas reported three new measles cases this week — raising the total to 83 cases across 11 counties with three hospitalizations. Most cases are linked and nearly all are in Gray County while the new cases were reported in Gray and Haskell counties. KSN
