CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s office is investigating a deadly shooting after a Phillips County deputy determined probable cause to arrest a suspect—during the arrest, the suspect pulled a concealed handgun and opened fire. KNSS
- ➤ Phillips County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Gaede was fatally shot Friday night while responding to a report of illegal fireworks in Phillipsburg— a GoFundMe campaign for his family raised over $28K in just over 24 hours to support his wife and three children. KWCH
- ➤ A shooting in west Wichita on Sunday afternoon left one person in the hospital after the incident occurred just before 2:30 p.m. on the 2700 block of W. 2nd St. N. near Meridan Avenue — Sedgwick County Dispatch said the injuries were potentially extremely critical. KSN

- ➤ Eisenhower High School softball coach Amber Brunswig died after suffering a major heart problem earlier this month. She had been in hospice care and local players showed their support by wearing homemade bracelets during summer softball games. KWCH
