ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A man fell into a well in Benton on Thursday morning and was rescued by Sedgwick County with help from Butler County dispatchers (the call came in around 10:30 a.m.) before being taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.  KWCH

CULTURE NEWS

  • A guide to Juneteenth events in Wichita was published on June 19 and detailed local celebrations and community gatherings for the holiday. The guide offered key information — times and locations — to help residents join the festivities.  KWCH
  • Fifteen years ago Fletcher Powell told the story of the Wichita Monrovians, a baseball team of only black players that played a game in the 1920s — their 100th anniversary game will be celebrated this Saturday, June 21. Hugo Phan spoke with two Wichita game developers on Culture Pop as they explained how tariffs are causing production delays and higher costs for board game makers.  KMUW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Wichita announced that Brooks Landfill will accept storm-related tree debris free of charge on Saturday, June 21 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.—loads containing additional waste will be charged the standard fee.  KSN

  • At Crestview Country Club, the Wichita Open began at 6:50 a.m. on Thursday with players teeing off, and Adrien Dumont de Chassart set a historic record with a 59 (the lowest round in tournament history) as a 156-man field awaits a cut after round 2 on Friday.  KWCH
