CRIME NEWS

  • Two shootings occurred Saturday in Wichita with a 10:30 p.m. incident at 21st and Hillside leaving one person in critical condition and a drive-by in Oaklawn around 12:40 p.m. injuring a 22-year-old woman and striking a dog—both victims received medical treatment—while authorities investigate.  KNSS
  • A shooting near 800 S Longfellow ended after a standoff that left a woman and a dog shot in a drive-by incident, and police are investigating the case.  KWCH
  • Police stopped a shooting near 800 S Longfellow after an hour long standoff and arrested one person—no further details on injuries or charges have been released.  KWCH
  • Police responded to gunshots near Wichita State University at 9:32 p.m. Saturday night and found 36-year-old Jesus Aguilera with multiple gunshot wounds before he was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead; a barricaded situation near the 800 block of South Longfellow remains active as officers urged residents to shelter in place.  KSN
  • Early Sunday morning in southeast Wichita, police responded to a barricade incident when a suspect linked to Saturday's shooting fired at officers from inside a home near 22nd and Hillside — after seven hours of failed negotiations, SWAT deployed chemical munitions that forced the suspect to exit, leading to his arrest and hospital treatment following a police K-9 encounter.  KWCH
