- ➤ Weeks after an EF‑3 tornado tore through Plevna, homeowners are still coping with severe damage as the county did not reach the $300,000 threshold for state aid. Emergency management officials said residents must now rely on donations to help rebuild nine destroyed homes — with homeowners like Jason Wingert reporting total losses. KWCH
- ➤ The 2025 Miss Kansas was crowned in Pratt on June 6th after final preliminary rounds — the event celebrated the new titleholder and marked a milestone for local pageants. KWCH
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Emergency crews responded Sunday morning to a house fire in the 2400 block of N. Lindberg near K-96 and Greenwich that injured two people from smoke inhalation and brought the blaze under control before 10 a.m. KNSS
- ➤ A vehicle accidentally pushed an ice machine through the front of K and S Liquor on the 1800 block of East Madison in Derby on Sunday, damaging the entrance and scattering products — Derby Fire and Rescue said the store will reopen after cleanup. KWCH
- ➤ On Saturday just before 7 p.m., a two-vehicle crash at K-42 and Tyler in southwest Wichita killed a 79-year-old Clearwater woman and seriously injured a 79-year-old Clearwater man—while a 24-year-old man turning suffered minor injuries and refused treatment. KNSS

- ➤ Ta'Lyiah Lewis was crowned Miss Juneteenth ICT at the annual Rooted in Black Beauty (scholarship pageant) that launched the Juneteenth festivities Sunday in Wichita. KAKE
- ➤ Ta’Lyiah Lewis, a rising junior at Wichita Northwest High School, was crowned Miss Juneteenth ICT 2025 yesterday at Wichita State University’s Duerksen Fine Arts Center—her platform focuses on youth mental health and she will compete in the Miss Kansas Teen Pageant in 2026. KWCH
