COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A memorial honoring the victims of Flight 5342 was unveiled Monday as community members gathered to pay tribute to those lost in the tragedy; the event offered a quiet moment of reflection.  KWCH
  • KWCH is partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters on the Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser to help match Wichita youth with adult mentors. Donations raised today will support events and programs for both Bigs and Littles in the community.  KWCH
  • Residents at a Wichita apartment complex have been without water since last week as management and local officials work to restore service.  KWCH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wichita School Board voted Monday to place a $615 million school bond on the ballot for November 3. The measure has two parts — the first does not add new taxes, and the second, which passes only if the first wins, would raise taxes about $50 per household.  KWCH
  • Park City officials approved extending liquor sales to 23 hours to support fans watching the World Cup. The change will benefit local businesses and ease purchasing during the tournament.  KWCH
  • The Wichita school board is discussing a bond proposal that may fund upgrades for local school facilities. The board will review the proposal (meeting date pending) and is expected to outline details soon.  KWCH

  • Cleo Littleton, a celebrated WSU basketball icon, died on Monday, June 1 after a storied career that inspired many local athletes. Fans remember Littleton for leaving a lasting impact on Wichita sports and community pride.  KWCH
