- ➤ Wichita Public Pools opened Monday, May 25 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Aley, College Hill, Harvest and Orchard (pools are on a rotating schedule due to a lifeguard shortage) while the department is hiring and training new lifeguards to move to a full daily schedule by mid-June. Wichita By E.B.
- ➤ An 11 year old boy found a 15 ft mosasaur fossil during a 4H trip in Sedgwick County last September & he will display the cleaned skull at the county fair from July 8-11. KWCH
- ➤ Participants in Wichita took part in the Murph Challenge on Monday, completing a fitness test honoring Lt. Michael Murphy at Park City and the northwest YMCA. The workout also served as a fundraiser for the Lt. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation & celebrated the Medal of Honor recipient's legacy. KWCH
- ➤ The Hesston community returned 60 grave markers stolen this past winter to Hesston Cemetery in time for Memorial Day, honoring veterans with restored memorials. Donations from Senator Moran’s office and help from community volunteers, including an Eagle Scout’s project, made the effort possible. KWCH

- ➤ Veterans Memorial Park hosted a Memorial Day commemoration yesterday (May 25) where local residents gathered to honor the service of area veterans. KWCH

- ➤ Mike Kennedy, the Voice of the Shockers, called his final Wichita State baseball game this past weekend at the American Conference Baseball Tournament. He ended a nearly 46-year career in sports broadcasting and reflected on decades of memorable moments, including a brief health break in 2024 (he is 78). KWCH
