ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Wichita firefighters responded to a house fire in south Wichita on Saturday afternoon in the 800 block of W. Hazel Street — a neighbor spotted smoke and tried using a garden hose before flames emerged from the crawlspace and a corner bedroom, and crews quickly extinguished the fire with no injuries while officials suspect an electrical or mechanical issue with a driveway gate. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The City of Wichita’s Division of Arts and Cultural Services opened applications for its 2026 Operational Funding Grant Opportunity to support local nonprofits with arts and culture programs. Interested groups can join an information session on Tuesday, May 20 at 2 p.m. virtual and 6 p.m. in-person at CityArts — applications began on Friday, May 9 — with a submission deadline on Monday, August 4.
