- ➤ A house fire in east Wichita killed one man and left a woman in critical condition. KSN
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Larry Blythe, a 77-year-old resident, discovered his car was stolen on May 9 outside his east Wichita home—he needs the vehicle to reach life-saving treatment for prostate cancer and kidney failure, and his family has raised over $1,000 to help him replace it. KWCH
- ➤ A 45-year-old inmate serving two life sentences for murder died Saturday night after staff found him unresponsive in his cell at Larned State Correctional Facility+ officials attempted life-saving measures and transferred him to a hospital where he later died+ investigators are now probing his death. KWCH
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued a public health advisory for three lakes—Frazier Lake, Lake Shawnee and Council Grove City Lake—after blue-green algae were found that can cause skin irritation and other symptoms. Officials urge residents to avoid contact with the water and keep pets away to reduce the risk of illness. KSN
