EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wichita State, WSU Tech and Wichita Public Schools announced a new partnership that lets WPS graduates study for two years at WSU Tech and two years at Wichita State while working as paraeducators. The program also offers a Kansas state-funded scholarship for eligible students. The Sunflower
- ➤ Wichita State’s Student Senate confirmed its new executive branch members in its final semester meeting, appointing Kaylee Fritz as chief of staff, Luke Bumm as student body treasurer, and Jayden Island as undergraduate advocate. Lily Arens continues as legislative and policy affairs director while Anouska Raju and Morshed Khan were named as health and wellness director and student organizations director—SGA business over summer will be managed by a Legislative Council. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said another measles exposure site was found at Wichita’s Eisenhower National Airport, where anyone there on May 2 should watch for symptoms until May 23 and stay home if not immune—officials also identified exposures at a grocery store on April 29, a library on May 3, and B&P Auto Parts on May 2, 5, and 6, advising those affected to consult their healthcare provider. - ➤ KDHE warned that people were exposed to measles at Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport on May 2 between 6:15 p.m. and 9 p.m.—at Hutchinson Public Library on May 3 between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.—and at B—P Auto Parts in Cimarron on May 2, May 5, and May 6. Health officials advised anyone who may have been exposed to monitor for symptoms such as fever and a new rash for 21 days. KWCH
