- ➤ Buttons for Riverfest will be available at QuikTrip stores in Wichita and select locations in Newton, Derby, El Dorado and Park City; adult buttons cost $20, child buttons cost $10 and will give access to nine days of concerts, food vendors, fireworks and other events from May 30 through June 7 — a ticket to the city's largest outdoor celebration. - ➤ The Urban League of Wichita honored Kiah Duggins with its Emerging Leader Award on Thursday night—recognizing her leadership even after she was killed in the mid-air collision involving Flight 5342 and a military helicopter in Washington, D.C. FOX Kansas

- ➤ A Spirit AeroSystems spokesperson said the company will furlough 250 to 350 employees in two Boeing 737 programs due to a backlog of planes in Washington. The furloughs will begin in mid-May and end in mid-June — affected workers have been notified. KWCH
- ➤ Mochinut West Wichita is opening at 8641 W. 13th St. N. and features Korean-inspired mochinuts—gluten-friendly donuts made fresh daily—and K-dogs with various fillings and toppings. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Kenneth Junious Jr., 38, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for the fatal stabbing of Bryan Turner in November 2020 after an altercation at a South Washington home and was sentenced on May 2 to 247 months in prison—more than 20 years. KSN

- ➤ A Hesston newborn born on April 4 recovered from a serious lung condition after doctors at St. Joseph Hospital used a high frequency jet ventilator—this treatment helped baby Grayson improve within three days and be taken off the breathing tube before going home healthy. KWCH
- ➤ Health officials warn that measles is spreading nationally—with 884 cases reported so far and 46 in southwest Kansas—and the virus is nearing Kansas City amid low immunization rates and rising vaccine skepticism.
