- ➤ Wichita ranked among the top 100 places to live on the Livability website for its low cost of living and easy travel around town—joining other Kansas cities like Olathe and Overland Park. The site also mentioned the city’s diverse dining options and strong industries that help boost its economy. KWCH
- ➤ The Sedgwick County Zoo is offering free admission for mothers on May 10 and 11 if they are accompanied by a paid guest or, for zoo members, if a valid membership card and photo ID are presented. The zoo will also host a Mother’s Day brunch buffet on May 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at $24.99 per person – the menu includes items like chicken and waffle bites and smoked salmon crostini. KWCH

- ➤ Retired Wichita business leader Steve Feilmeier created Wichita Affordable Housing LLC last year to offer nonprofits low-interest 5% loans for building homes for low- and moderate-income families. Local banks are also investing in the fund—helping more developers support affordable housing projects. The Voice
- ➤ A Learjet 36A launched from Wichita on April 30 on a world-record mission to fly to the South Pole, then the North Pole, and return in three days to raise funds for restoring Lear Jet 23-003— the first business jet in our air capital history. Global Jetcare provided the plane and four pilots who take turns as they conduct scientific research at each refueling stop, and the flight will finish on May 3— sponsors are still being sought. KSN

- ➤ A Kansas woman was indicted after she allegedly sold gold and silver coins stolen from a Dickinson County couple’s farm—investigators said she transported the coins across state lines and she could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted. KSN
- ➤ Winfield police are seeking help to locate 45-year-old Jessica Arlette Spillman who left ResCare on April 27 and may have been seen in Wichita near City Life Church around 7:30 p.m.—she is described as 5′9″ with red hair, blue eyes, and wearing a pajama tank top with a pink hoodie and capri pants.
