BUSINESS NEWS

  • Watermark Books and Cafe opened its renovated coffee space yesterday in a refreshed setting that blends books and coffee for local visitors. The updated venue now welcomes those seeking a cozy spot to relax.  KWCH

CRIME NEWS

  • Valley Center police confirmed that missing 12-year-old Antonio Hall Haught was found safe, describing him as 5 feet tall and about 70 pounds (with brown hair, brown eyes and a black cast on his right).  KAKE

CULTURE NEWS

  • Comedian Sal Vulcano will bring his 'Everything’s Fine' tour to Century II on May 1 with a night of humorous storytelling and quickfire jokes — doors open at 6 p.m. for this live stand-up event.  KWCH

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A Wichita elementary school got new physical education equipment on Tuesday, Apr. 28, officials say (the upgrade will boost student activity during gym class).  KWCH
  • A Wichita elementary school announced it will receive new PE equipment to boost student physical activity and enhance gym experiences; installation is expected soon—details were released on Apr. 28.  KWCH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wichita Airport Authority is developing a 20-year master plan for Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport to support community growth and maintain an FAA-approved Airport Layout Plan. Officials say the plan will guide project approvals, design, financing, and construction for rising travel needs.  KWCH
  • The Wichita-Sedgwick County Planning Commission is reviewing a proposal from Galena Solar Project, LLC to build a solar farm & battery storage facility on 1,500 acres southwest of Wichita, recommending conditional approval; the project must then secure approval from the City Council & County Commission.  KNSS
  • The Wichita city council reviewed an update on a downtown ballpark district that will include mixed-use space, retail, restaurants, parking, a seven-story apartment building with 190+ units, and a 160-room hotel. Construction will start in June and finish in the first half of 2028.  KWCH
  • On Thursday, the Farm Bill will go to a House vote in Washington and local nonprofits warn it gives little support for SNAP benefits, which normally make up most of the farm bill funding, leaving food programs to face rising demand.  KWCH

  • A new therapy center for autism support opens at 8110 E 32nd St. N in east Wichita. Operating Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.—Limitless ABA helps children ages two to ten manage social skills and challenging behaviors and is now the company’s fourth location.  KWCH
  • Members of Wichita State’s Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority will lead the 2026 NAMIWalks on Sunday morning to raise funds for mental health – the event is sponsored by Suspenders4Hope.  The Sunflower
