- ➤ Moundridge homeowners Rick and Jessica Alvarez signed a contract in October for a bath remodel scheduled in February but still wait for their shelves to be installed, meaning they continue to make monthly payments for unfinished work. They said Bath Wizard placed the shelves on back order and now only answer their calls via voicemail—leaving them frustrated. KWCH

- ➤ A 21 year old man, Martevion Davis, was shot outside the Afton Motel Friday night near Kellogg and later died at a local hospital & suspect James Owens turned himself in Saturday afternoon and was booked for first degree murder. KNSS
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Little Stars Therapy Services held an autism carnival on Saturday in Wichita that featured performers, a petting zoo, and food trucks + artists. The event celebrated World Autism Month and fostered community engagement + taught social skills to help children feel they belong. KWCH
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ High school students from across the state raced electric go-karts they built on Saturday in Clearwater at the Kansas Electro Rally—testing their engineering and teamwork skills with one battery pack provided for each racer. The one-hour race challenged them to complete as many laps as possible while honing practical design and repair skills. KWCH
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Wichita is asking residents for their opinion on whether to extend the fireworks usage period after a new law allowed year-round sales. The survey remains open until May 30 and notes that current rules restrict ground fireworks to June 27—July 5 and aerial types to July 3—5. KWCH
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Kansas Health Foundation secured $3.5 million to support cancer screenings for residents in northeast Wichita affected by groundwater contamination from a 2022 report—health care providers can apply for the grant beginning in June. FOX Kansas

- ➤ Plainville native Jared Casey accepted a Kansas City Chiefs rookie minicamp invite and will compete for a roster spot this summer—after a standout season at Kansas that included over 200 yards in a season and a famous walk-off touchdown over Texas in 2021.
