  • Steve Ramsey and his wife Carolyn returned to Wichita after nearly ten years away to celebrate their 50th anniversary at the first street bridge where they met in the 1970s—when Steve helped design it. Their daughter Shawn Nitcher organized a surprise by hanging signs along the railings.  KSN

  • Justin Bahner remains hospitalized after suffering extensive injuries in a head-on collision on K-15 just over a week ago—his solution came as his Udall community held a bingo and barbecue fundraiser at the Community Center on Friday night to support his recovery.  KWCH

  • Brandon Huynh — owner of Kim Son Asian Food Market — said he is worried that the new triple digit tariff on Chinese goods will raise prices and cause many customers to rush to buy products before costs increase.  FOX Kansas

CRIME NEWS

  • A 50-year-old Wichita woman was arrested for aggravated child endangerment—her unsecured firearm was accessed by her 4-year-old daughter who accidentally shot herself on the 2500 block of E. Harry, leaving the child in critical condition.  KNSS

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Susan Rogers—a first-grade teacher at Derby Hills Elementary—and Jason Peters—a high school math teacher at Hesston High School were named Region 4 finalists for the 2026 Kansas Teacher of the Year award during a ceremony held Saturday at the Wichita Marriott Hotel. Both teachers will receive a $2,000 award as they join six other regional semifinalists with the overall winner to be announced on Sept. 20 in Wichita.  KSN

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Wichita State Shockers cheer team won the national title at the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) College Nationals in Daytona, Florida, finishing almost two points ahead of VCU. The dance team placed 11th overall in Pom Division I at the National Dance Alliance College Nationals.  KWCH
