  • The annual Kansas Mennonite Relief Sale (a local event) will take place this weekend, offering discounted goods for residents in need. Organizers plan to support community members with affordable items and an opportunity to connect.  KWCH

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Quality Drills in Wichita is sending its first John Deere no-till drill to Alaska. The shipment begins Thursday in Oklahoma with four semi trucks and will take seven days and nearly 7,000 miles before the team rebuilds the tool on-site (and hosts a growers clinic near Delta Junction).  KWCH

  • Comedian Aries Spears, a 37-year veteran known for his 80s tough style, will perform at Cotillion tomorrow at 8 p.m. in Wichita & doors open at 7 p.m. He recently gave an exclusive interview with 12 News to share his career insights.  KWCH

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Wichita State held its student government election that ended Wednesday, approving new senators, a president and vice president along with three constitutional amendments. The final results will be confirmed Friday.  The Sunflower
  • Wichita State’s Student Senate passed a bill amending the Student Bill of Rights on April 8 that protects against discrimination in funding, participation and other campus areas — the measure safeguards disabled students and other groups amid court challenges.  The Sunflower

  • Local beekeepers are moving bee swarms from Wichita homes during swarming season using a bee-friendly vacuum, as Pat Anderson reached out via the Wichita Beekeeper Alliance on Facebook; father-son duo Jeff and Parker Vap has relocated bees for two years — helping them find new homes safely.  KWCH
