CRIME NEWS

  • The Wichita Police Department issued a Silver Alert today for Cliserio (Cleo) Delgadillo, a 78-year-old man with dementia and diabetes who was last seen on foot at the Kwik Shop at 13th and Woodlawn at about 10:30 a.m., wearing blue jeans, a red shirt, black shoes and a black jacket with a Google logo.  KWCH
  • A Wichita man who was released from jail today was arrested again hours later after robbing a Walgreens in Newton when officers responded at 11:15 a.m., located him a few blocks away and recovered clothing and other evidence+ no weapon was found.  KSN
  • Authorities reported on Sunday night that one person was critically hurt in a shooting in east Wichita in the 8300 block of Kellogg — Sedgwick County said the call came in at 8:14 p.m.  KSN

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Funding for Kansas farms and businesses has been frozen as the Kansas Department of Agriculture halted reimbursements for the USDA Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure program and warned that funds sent after January 19 may be reclaimed. Local operations like Myers Mushrooms and Bruce’s Bullseye Farms are making budget adjustments—testing new equipment purchases and expanding plans—while they await news on when funding may resume.  KWCH

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Last week, Wichita city leaders extended an agreement with the McPherson County Conservation District to work with local farmers—aiming to reduce atrazine in the Little Arkansas River and protect the Equus Beds Aquifer.  KSN

  • Sedgwick County Department of Corrections is hosting P.O.W.E.R.—Providing Opportunities While Ending Recidivism—a free seminar for at-risk youth who want a fresh start. The Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center runs the program to help them learn new ways to talk about their mistakes.  KSN
