- ➤ On Monday, Governor Laura Kelly signed six bills into law that will take effect on July 1 — they cover changes to election results, bond limits, driver caution for hazard lights, caregiver training, athletic trainer rules and highway patrol roles. She also vetoed Senate Bill 4 that would have required advance voting ballots to be returned by 7 p.m. on election days. KNSS
- ➤ At Tuesday’s City Council workshop, public works said Wichita remains under Stage 2 drought restrictions with Cheney Lake measured 7.5 feet below normal at 62.1% full while the Equus Bed aquifer is 92% full. The new Northwest Water Treatment facility will test a 60+40 blend of ground and surface water and some test water will soon go to a pipeline for future distribution + the city’s plans for aquifer recharge and water reuse are advancing this Fall. - ➤ A new law now requires drivers to slow or change lanes when they see vehicles with flashing lights on the side of the road. Governor Laura Kelly signed the bill on Monday to help keep roadside workers safe. FOX Kansas
