CRIME NEWS

  • After fatal shootings that killed a toddler on February 28 in the 2200 block of South Santa Fe and a seven-year-old a week later in the 3700 block of East Ross Parkway, local officials — including Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan, Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter and a pediatric trauma surgeon — urged gun owners to use free gun locks available at police stations to help prevent further tragedy.  KWCH

The measure would charge ($125) for hybrid trucks compared to ($50 or $85) for SUVs and may affect vehicles like Toyota Tacoma and Ford Maverick as more hybrid trucks enter the market.  KMUW
  • Sedgwick County sent out property valuation notices on March 1 and homeowners saw about a 9% increase this year; if you believe your valuation is not fair, you must file an appeal by March 31 either by mail or online using the form on your notice.
