ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ One person died and four others were injured—one critically—after a crash occurred Sunday evening near the 2000 block of S. Oliver at the intersection of E. Mt. Vernon in southeast Wichita. KWCH
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mayor Lily Wu hosted her first 'State of the City' address in downtown Wichita on March 16th, 2025—she discussed the city's progress since her 2023 election and plans for future initiatives. KWCH
- ➤ Thousands gathered in Delano on Saturday for the annual Paddy Day Parade and street party to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day while Councilmember Dalton Glasscock pushed for a new common consumption area for outdoor drinking (stretching from the Arkansas River to Seneca). Glasscock plans to present his proposal to the Wichita City Council by May as he works to boost local energy. KWCH
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ CBS Sports announced NCAA tournament tip times after Sunday's bracket reveal. In Wichita, the action will begin at 1 p.m. CT when No. 1 Houston faces No. 16 SIU Edwardsville on TBS (with commentary by Tom McCarthy, Deb Antonelli, Steve Smith and AJ Ross), and more games are planned (on Thursday and Friday). - ➤ The Kansas State Wildcats women's team earned the No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament after finishing the season 26–7 and will open play on Friday against No. 12 Fairfield in Lexington—Jett Mittie is making his sixth tournament appearance and star Ayoka Lee, who missed most of the season, is expected to play. - ➤ The Kansas Jayhawks have earned their lowest seed ever in the Bill Self era (a No. 6 seed in the West region) of the 2025 NCAA Tournament and will face a No. 10 seed from Arkansas in Providence. They will then play the winner (either No. 2 St. John’s or No. 15 Omaha) in the next round. KWCH
