  • Airport security at Dwight D. Eisenhower is slowing due to TSA staffing cuts from a partial government shutdown, and travelers are advised to check wait times on the MyTSA mobile app — planning to arrive early for spring trips.  The Voice
  • Community members will gather Saturday, March 14 at 5 p.m. at Riverside Pavilion (1029 Bitting Street) to honor local musician Jenny Wood's legacy in a vigil that invites attendees to bring chairs, instruments and candles; the event follows widespread local tributes after her passing.  KWCH

  • Amber Waves Diving Company in Wichita has expanded its services into retail, classroom instruction, and an 18-foot-deep pool, making it the largest PADI Training Center in the area. The facility holds open swim sessions on Sundays while offering equipment, first aid classes, and dive lessons to support local divers.  KMUW
  • Banh Mi Bites will open in northwest Wichita at NewMarket Square’s 2755 N. Maize Road (former Sesame Mediterranean Kitchen space) in the final week of March or first week of April, offering customers a choice between made-to-order or preset banh mi sandwiches.  Wichita By E.B.

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Wednesday night’s Student Senate meeting, senators amended the Child Development Center’s advisory board bylaws to form a finance committee that will set an annual SGA budget; the measure passed unanimously. Students may share feedback during public forums at Rhatigan Student Center room 233 + view sessions on the livestream.  The Sunflower
  • Wichita State’s Student Government Association plans changes that would reclassify its agencies as recognized student organizations and convert underserved senate positions to at-large senators in response to a state DEI budget rule. The two new bills will be debated at the Student Senate meeting on March 25 (7:30 p.m.).  The Sunflower

  • AAA Kansas and Bike Walk Wichita have issued pedestrian safety tips after a record year of hit-and-run crashes, advising people to cross only at designated crosswalks + stay alert on Wichita streets.   • A Missouri bill to license naturopathic doctors for primary care is waiting for a hearing while a Kansas bill to expand their scope failed last month with a 58+58 vote.  The Beacon
